This Watch If there is one thing we love here at AWC, it's a 1970s watch that looks like a 1970s watch, and one of our favourite examples of this is the Omega Genve model 1660170, complete with day date. The futuristic style, brushed, stainless steel, screw back case has a sunburst effect to it, drawing your eye to the dial. Inside is the automatic Omega caliber 1022, fully serviced by us and running strongly. Under the hooded lugs, we've paired the watch on a brown leather racing strap, but it looks great on everything. The silvered dial has onyx type, applied baton markers and pencil hour, minute and central seconds hands. At 12 o'clock, the dial is signed 'Omega, Automatic' with the famous Omega logo. At 3 o'clock is the day date window and at 6, the dial is signed 'Genve.' Extra Points Founded by Louis Brandt in 1848, Omega started out as La Generale Watch Co., an unassuming, but international business. It wasn't until 1885, when the company had been taken over by Louis' sons, that the first mass produced caliber, the Labrador, was released. By 1903, the company had renamed itself Omega and only two years later were they the official timekeepers at many sporting events across Switzerland. Fully serviced by us in our on site workshop and comes with our 12 month, non waterproof service cover. What we think The 1970s may just be the greatest decade to ever happen (not least because that's when I was born). Omega's designs were so fitting for this new, space age feel and we absolutely adore how this watch embodies new technological innovations that were happening when it was produced. A slightly larger watch at 38mm, but it is a comfortable wear for both men and women and a must have in every collection!
